Our Design with Intention
The philosophy that started it all
Design with intention has been at the heart of Woodendot from the beginning. It brings together our love of simple forms, the pleasure of a useful detail and the care we put into making each piece.
We think about the home a design will become part of: how it will be used, what it can make easier and how its presence can bring balance to a room. That is where each new idea starts.
An idea develops through sketches and proportions, then 3D models and prototypes. Working closely with our workshops, we test and refine it, revisiting the construction drawings and materials until the design is ready for production. We choose materials and production methods with care, aiming for lasting usefulness and a more responsible way of making furniture.
Our pieces take shape in Spain’s Tierra de Pinares, in Íscar and the surrounding villages. The makers’ experience helps us turn our intentions into furniture for daily life, with respect for the materials and a connection to the place and people behind them.
Functionality at the heart of our design
We begin with a need and the belief that a familiar piece of furniture can be approached differently. It might be a function that could work better, a form that could feel more balanced or a useful idea that has been overlooked.
We explore possibilities that everyday furniture still has to offer, considering how an original idea can make a piece more useful and enjoyable to live with. We value simplicity with personality, so that a design feels at home in the room.
With Made to Measure, that intention can be shaped around your home. Our own design systems let you adapt a piece through the dimensions and options available for each collection. Considered design choices and repeatable production processes help keep custom furniture more accessible, without starting each design from scratch.
As we develop each piece, we look for opportunities to:

- Make an existing function simpler and easier to use.
- Bring personality and balance to the design.
